“This app is exclusively for clients”: what to do as a professional

For professionalsAppUpdated on

The MyFitnessClient app on the App Store and Google Play is client-only and rejects professional accounts. See how to continue on the web, even on your phone.

When it happens

When you sign in to the MyFitnessClient app with a professional account, the “This app is exclusively for clients” window appears, with the sentence “This account belongs to a professional. To manage clients, workouts and payments, sign in on the web version.” and the Open web version and Use another account buttons.

It happens whichever way you sign in: with your email and password and with Google or Apple. If the account has two-factor authentication turned on, or if the email is not confirmed yet, the app asks for the code first and only then shows the window. It can also appear when you open the app, if a professional account's session was saved on the phone.

Why it happens

The MyFitnessClient app on the App Store and Google Play only has the client side: workouts, nutrition, progress and chat with the professional. The professional side is only on the website. So when the app recognizes a professional account, it does not save the session on the phone (or deletes the one that was there) and asks the server to end it.

It is not an account or password error: you signed in with the right details, and the account stays as it was.

Steps

To continue as a professional:

  1. In the window, tap Open web version. The phone's browser opens the sign-in page of the MyFitnessClient website, in the app's language.
  2. Sign in with the same account: the same email and password, or Google or Apple, if that is how you created it.
  3. Optional: to open the website as an app, without the browser bars, open the menu and, at the bottom of it, select Settings > Install the App. The guide opens straight on the steps for your phone and your browser.

You land on the website's Dashboard, with your clients, workouts and payments. For signing in on the website in detail, including the two-factor authentication code, see Sign in and sign out.

If you closed the window, open myfitnessclient.com in the phone's browser and tap Sign In, in the page menu. If you were already signed in on that browser, the button is Open the app.

What you do on the website

Everything you do as a professional is on the website, on the computer or in the phone's browser:

Questions

Was my account changed or deleted?

No. The app only ends the session on the phone. The account, your clients and everything you created stay as they were, and you sign in on the website with the same account.

I also have a client account. How do I sign in to the app with it?

In the window, tap Use another account. You go back to the Sign in screen, where you sign in with the email of the client account. Each email has only one account, either professional or client.

Is my business's own app in the stores also for clients only?

Yes. It is your clients' app, with your brand, and your professional account cannot sign in to it either.

How do I see what my clients see?

On the website, with the Test Student. See Preview the client app with the Test Student.

If this did not solve it

If the account should be a client account, for example because you created it on the website as a professional by mistake, contact support. See Contact Support and create a request. Include:

  • the email of the account;
  • how you signed in to the app: with your email and password, with Google or with Apple;
  • the phone model.
