Before you start
- Deleting the account is immediate and cannot be undone. You lose access to your history, plans, messages and files, and there is no way to recover the account.
- The account is deleted in the app. On the web there is no button to delete a client account: if you only use the website, you request the deletion by email, as explained in “If you only use the website”.
- If you only want to leave your professional and keep the account, see End coaching or disconnect from your professional.
- You confirm it's you with the account password or, depending on the account, with a code sent to the account email, with Apple or with Google.
- This article is for client accounts. A professional account is closed on the website, in Settings.
Steps
To delete the account, in the app:
- Open the menu with the button in the top-left corner and select your name at the bottom of the menu, with Profile and settings under it. On a tablet, the menu is always visible and may show only your photo.
- In the Account group, the last one in Settings, select Delete account.
- Read the What happens when you delete your account card. If you have payments due, the screen also shows the amount you owe.
- Confirm it's you the way the screen asks: type your password in the Confirm your password field or, for accounts without that field, follow “Confirm with a code, with Apple or with Google”, after the steps.
- In the next field, type DELETE. Upper or lower case makes no difference.
- Select Delete my account. The button only becomes active after you type the word and, when the screen asks for them, the password or the code.
- In the Delete the account? window, select Delete my account again.
“Account deleted.” appears, you are signed out on all devices and the app returns to the welcome screen.
Confirm with a code, with Apple or with Google
When the password field does not appear, the screen shows one of these ways to confirm:
- For an account without a password, the screen says “This account has no password. To confirm it's you, we'll send a 6-digit code to your email.” Select Send code and type the code you receive in Code from the email. The code is valid for 10 minutes. If it does not arrive, request another one with Resend code. A new code is only sent 60 seconds after the previous one, and you can only request a code 5 times in 10 minutes.
- For an account linked to Apple, on iPhone and iPad, if the screen says “To confirm it's you, Apple will ask you to sign in.”, there is no password or code to type, even if the account has a password. After the last step, Apple asks you to sign in, and the account is only deleted when you sign in.
- For an account without a password that signs in with Google, if the screen says “To confirm it's you, choose your Google account.”, there is no password or code to type. After the last step, choose the Google account you use to sign in to MyFitnessClient, and the account is only deleted when you choose it.
- If you close the Apple or Google window without signing in, nothing is deleted and you return to the Delete account screen.
What happens when you delete your account
- The account is deactivated immediately and you are signed out on all devices. Your name, email, contact details and profile photo are erased. The full list is in Data deleted and data kept on account deletion.
- Each professional you had ongoing or scheduled coaching with gets a notice, with your name, saying that you deleted the account and that the coaching has ended. They no longer see you in their client list.
- You leave the sessions booked with that professional that have not started yet.
- Active plans stop renewing and nothing new is charged. Payments already made are not refunded through this flow.
- The record of your coaching (health questionnaire, assessments, check-ins, workouts, nutrition and messages) stays in the professional's account, without your name or contact details, until they delete it.
- The account's link to Apple and Google is removed. If you confirmed with Apple, MyFitnessClient also asks Apple to revoke that link.
If you have payments due
If you owe a professional any amount, the screen shows, after the What happens when you delete your account card, the total due and up to 3 charges, each with its due date. You can still delete the account, but the debt does not go away.
- Whoever charges you keeps your name and email with those payments for up to 2 years, or until the debt is paid, only so they can collect them.
- See payments opens your payments, with everything you owe. See View your payments, filter them and export them to CSV.
- If part of the debt is with the professional who coaches you now, a button to talk to them in the chat also appears.
If you only use the website
- On the web there is no button to delete a client account.
- Write to [email protected] from the account email, with the subject “Delete account”. MyFitnessClient confirms it's you before deleting anything and handles the request within one month.
- Alternatively, sign in to the app with the same account and follow the steps in this article.
- The public page Delete your account and your data explains the same and does not need the app.
Common problems
“Incorrect password.”
The password you typed is not the account's. Type it again, paying attention to upper and lower case. If you don't remember it, see Reset a forgotten password.
“Couldn't confirm it's you with that account.”
Apple or Google did not confirm the account, for example because the phone uses a different Apple account. The screen then asks for the password or, for an account without a password, the code by email. Confirm that way and select Delete my account again.
“Invalid code. Try again.” or “Code expired. Request a new one.”
The code is not the last one you received, more than 10 minutes have passed, or you have already entered a wrong code 5 times (in that case “Too many attempts. Try again later.” appears). The code field is cleared. Select Resend code, open the most recent email and type the new code.
“Could not delete the account.”
The request failed, for example because you tried more than 5 times in the same minute. Without internet, the message is different: “No connection. Check your internet and try again.” In both cases, wait a minute, check the connection and try again. If that did not solve it, write to [email protected] from the account email and say which message appears.
Questions
Can I recover the account after deleting it?
No. There is no way to recover a deleted account.
Do I have to end coaching before deleting the account?
No. Deleting the account ends any ongoing or scheduled coaching, and each professional is notified.
Can I ask the professional to delete the record of my coaching?
Yes. The record stays in their account until they delete it. You can ask them directly, or ask MyFitnessClient to forward the request to them.
