Fees on client online payments

For professionalsWebBasic plan or higherUpdated on

In MyFitnessClient, the Payments module shows the Stripe fees and the net amount of each charge paid online. Check it to see what stays in your account.

When a client pays online, they pay into your Stripe account: Stripe deducts its fees there and the rest stays in your account. MyFitnessClient currently does not charge a commission on these payments. Payments you record by hand do not go through Stripe and have no fees in MyFitnessClient. To get paid online, you need to connect Stripe: see Connect Stripe to receive online payments from clients.

Who charges what

What comes out of an online payment, who charges it and where you see it:

WhatWho charges itWhere you see it
Stripe feesStripe, under the agreement for your Stripe account. They are deducted from your account, never charged to the client. In the Payment fees row of the details of each charge paid online, and in the Stripe dashboard.
MyFitnessClient commissionNobody. MyFitnessClient currently does not charge a commission on the charges, plans or courses that clients pay online. The Platform fee row in the details only appears when there is a commission greater than zero, so you do not see it.
What the client paysThe amount of the charge, plan or course, with nothing added. MyFitnessClient does not add fees to the price. On the Stripe payment page, which the client opens to pay.
Payments recorded by handNo fees in MyFitnessClient: the money does not go through Stripe. In Charges and in the totals at the top, at the charge amount.
Your MyFitnessClient subscriptionMyFitnessClient, separately. It does not come out of your clients' payments. In your subscription invoices.

For your subscription invoices, see View your invoices and update the card for your subscription.

The net amount of each charge paid online

In Payments, on the Charges tab, select a charge paid online. The Payment details window opens; you can also open it from History on the client's profile. The Online payment block shows these rows:

RowWhat it shows
Captured amountThe amount Stripe charged the client.
RefundedWhat has already been returned to the client. It only appears after a refund.
Payment feesThe fees Stripe deducted from this payment. It only appears when MyFitnessClient has that figure from Stripe.
Platform feeA MyFitnessClient commission. It only appears if it is greater than zero, which currently does not happen.
Current netWhat stays in your Stripe account: the captured amount minus fees, refunds and disputes. It turns red if it is negative.
Dispute statusOnly when the client disputed the payment: the status of the dispute, for example “Needs response”.
  • Under the rows, the window reminds you: “Online payment amounts. If anything doesn't match, what reached your account is what counts.”
  • The figures come from Stripe and cannot be changed by hand: a charge paid online has no Edit button. For refunds and disputes, see Refunds and disputes for online payments.
  • If you turned on Hide money values in your account settings, the figures appear blurred. Select a figure to see it.

When the fees do not appear

If Stripe pays you in a currency different from that of your charges, each payment is converted and the fees, refunds and disputes are recorded in that other currency. In that case, MyFitnessClient does not use those figures: the Payment fees row does not appear, Current net deducts the refunded amount but not fees or disputes, and Net revenue does not deduct fees or disputes. See the net amount of those payments in the Stripe dashboard, which the workspace owner opens with Open Stripe dashboard, on the Settings tab of Payments: see Check your Stripe balance and payouts. For the currency you charge in and the currency you get paid in, see Choose the country and currency you charge in.

Online payments with no fees shown

Automatic plan subscriptions and course sales also have Stripe fees, but MyFitnessClient does not show them:

  • Each payment of an automatic subscription appears in Charges as a Recurring row with the amount charged, before fees. The row does not open details.
  • A course purchase appears as a Course row with the amount paid, which opens the Stripe receipt when there is one. Payments for a course subscription appear as Course rows that do not open.

For the fees on these payments, open the Stripe dashboard.

Fees in the totals at the top

The cards at the top of Payments handle fees like this:

CardHow it counts fees
Net revenueCharges paid online count at their net amount, after fees, refunds and disputes; those paid by hand, at the charge amount. Automatic subscriptions and courses are left out.
Gross, under Net revenueThe same money before fees, refunds and disputes.
The current month, for example “October”What you received this month, counted like Net revenue. Automatic subscriptions are already included.
RecurringThe monthly value of active plans, without deducting fees.

What else each card shows is in Totals, statuses and charge types in Payments.

Questions

Does MyFitnessClient keep part of what my clients pay?

Not currently. The money goes straight to your Stripe account, without going through MyFitnessClient, and only Stripe deducts its fees.

How much does Stripe charge?

Whatever is in the agreement for your Stripe account: MyFitnessClient does not set those amounts. You see the fees for each charge in the Payment fees row and all transactions in the Stripe dashboard.

Why is the Current net lower than the charge amount?

Because it deducts Stripe fees and, when there are any, refunds and disputes.

Are the fees in the CSV file of charges?

No. The file has the amount of each charge, without the fees or the net amount. See Export client charges to CSV.
