Everything this page explains appears inside the shopping list of a meal plan. The list is the same for the professional, in the plan, on the website, and for the client, in Nutrition, on the website and in the app. What is said here about the app applies to the latest version of the app. To open the list and choose the days and the meals, see Create the shopping list for a meal plan.
The aisles
The list sorts foods into ten supermarket aisles, always in this order. An aisle with no foods does not appear. The aisle of each food comes from the category and the subcategory the food has in the food catalog.
| Aisle | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| Meat and fish | Meat, poultry, fish, seafood, deli and cured meats: the Proteins category, without eggs and legumes. |
| Eggs and dairy | Milk, yogurts, cheeses, cream, kefir and the other dairy products, eggs, and butters, margarines and lard. |
| Fruit and vegetables | Fruit, vegetables, potatoes and other tubers. Dried fruit and canned vegetables go to Pantry. |
| Bakery and grains | Bread, rice, pasta, oats, flours and breakfast cereals, and also cakes and pastries. |
| Pantry | Olive oil and other oils, nuts, seeds, seasonings, sauces, sugar, jams, snacks, chocolates and other desserts, and also legumes, dried fruit and canned vegetables. |
| Frozen | Only ice cream. The catalog does not say whether a food is frozen. |
| Drinks | Water, coffee, tea, juices, plant-based drinks and the other drinks. |
| Supplements | Foods with whey, creatine, BCAA or protein powder in their name, whatever their category. The catalog has no supplements category. |
| Ready meals | Soups, dishes and fast food. |
| Other | Foods in the Other category or with no category, and foods the list does not find in the catalog. |
A food in the plan that is not linked to a catalog food is looked up by name, ignoring capital letters and accents, among the public foods in the catalog and the professional's foods. If it is not found, it goes to Other. Inside each aisle, foods are grouped by the category they have in the catalog, in this order: Proteins, Dairy, Carbs, Vegetables, Fruits, Fats, Beverages, Seasonings, Meals, Snacks, Desserts, Fast Food and Other. Within each category, they follow alphabetical order.
The Supplements aisle only gathers foods from the meal plan. The supplements in a supplement plan are not included in the shopping list.
Ticking off what you already have
Each food to buy has a box. To tick off a food, select its line: the name, the quantity or the box.
- The ticked-off food leaves its aisle and moves to “Already have (N)”, after the aisles. N is the number of ticked-off foods.
- With at least one food ticked off, each aisle shows how many of its foods you have already ticked off, for example “2 of 5”. An aisle with everything ticked off no longer appears.
- To undo a tick, select the food in “Already have (N)”. The food goes back to its aisle.
- Clear ticks, next to “Already have (N)”, undoes all the ticks of that plan at once.
- On the website, “Already have (N)” starts closed: select it to open it. Inside, each food shows only its name and quantity, crossed out. In the app, “Already have (N)” is always open.
- The food under If you switch options has no boxes to tick.
Where ticks are stored
Ticks are stored on the device where you tick foods off, in the browser when you use the website and on the phone when you use the app, per account and per plan. They never go to the server.
| When | What happens to the ticks |
|---|---|
| You close the list and open it again | They are still there. |
| You change the days or the meals of the list | They are still there. A food is recognized by its name and its unit, ignoring capital letters and accents, so it stays ticked off even when the quantity changes. |
| The professional changes the name or the unit of the food in the plan | The food becomes a new line, without a tick. |
| You open the list on another device or in another browser, or move from the website to the app | Each one has its own ticks. |
| The professional and the client open the list of the same plan | Each has their own. Neither sees the other's ticks. |
| You now have a different meal plan | The new plan starts with no ticks. In the app, only the ticks of the last plan where you ticked something off stay stored. |
| You sign out | They are deleted. |
| You copy the list with Copy | The text lists the ticked-off foods separately, under “Already have (N)”. |
| You save the list as a PDF, on the website | The PDF comes out with all the foods and empty boxes, for you to tick by hand. |
A lost tick cannot be recovered. For the other cases where ticks disappear, see The shopping list shows an error, is empty or has lost your ticks. To take the list with you as text or as a PDF, see Copy the shopping list or save it as a PDF.
How to read each line
Each food takes up one line with its name and the quantity to buy. These notes can also appear on the line.
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| The quantity, next to the name | The total to buy for the chosen days and meals, already rounded for buying. The rules are in How quantities are added up. |
| “In 7 meals”, under the name | In how many meals of the chosen days the food appears. A meal served on 3 days counts 3 times. |
| “Or turkey breast”, with the swap icon, under the food | A substitution the professional gave this food in the plan, with its quantity. You buy one or the other. In the app, the quantity comes in the same sentence, for example “Or turkey breast, 1.2 kg”. |
| “Or turkey breast, instead of 1.4 kg (Lunch)” | The substitution only exists in some of the food's meals. The text says which part of the food it replaces and in which meals. |
| “about 840 g”, under the quantity | How much a quantity in units or servings weighs, rounded to 10 g, or in kg from 1000 g. It only appears when all the foods added up on that line have their serving defined in grams. |
| “cooked weight”, under the quantity | According to the catalog, the quantity in the plan is the weight of the food once cooked. The list does not convert it to the raw weight. |
| “to taste” or another quantity without a number | It is not added to any total. The abbreviation q.b. always appears as “to taste”; any other quantity without a number appears as the professional wrote it. |
| If you switch options, at the end of the list | The food from the meal options the professional put in the plan, one card per option, with a title such as “Snack, option 2” and the name of the option, when it has one. The meal itself is option 1. Buy this food only if you are going to eat that option instead of the main meal. |
In the If you switch options block, the same option served on several days stays in a single card, with the quantities added up, and an option with no foods does not appear. If you chose only some meals in Meals, only the options of those meals appear.
How quantities are added up
The list adds up what the plan serves on each of the chosen days, only in the meals chosen in Meals, and shows the quantity ready to buy.
| Case | What the list does |
|---|---|
| The same food in several meals or on several days | Puts it on a single line when the name and the unit are the same, ignoring capital letters and accents: “Jalapeño” and “jalapeno” are added together. The line shows the first spelling. |
| The same food with different units, for example 200 g in one meal and 1 serving in another | Stays on separate lines. The list does not convert one unit into the other. |
| Grams and milliliters | In whole numbers. From 1000 g or 1000 ml, they become kg or L, with one decimal place at most, for example 2 kg, 1.4 kg or 7.5 L. |
| Units, servings and other counted quantities | Rounded up: 2.33 units become 3. |
| Quantity without a number, such as “to taste” | It is not added to any total. The abbreviation q.b. always appears as “to taste”; any other quantity without a number appears as the professional wrote it. |
| Substitutions and meal options | Never included in the totals or in the “N foods for M meals” summary: you buy one or the other. |
