Automatic pop-ups and notices: what they are and how to close them

WebUpdated on

In the professional's area and the client web app, MyFitnessClient shows at most one pop-up per session. See when each appears and how to close it.

Three pop-ups you didn't ask for share a queue: turning on notifications, installing the app and the page tutorial. The queue decides whether and when each one appears. The two cards at the top of the Dashboard are outside it and have their own rules.

The queue rules

  • At most one pop-up per session: after one appears, no other appears in that browser tab while the tab stays open, even if you reload the page. Closing the pop-up doesn't give the turn to the next one.
  • Nothing appears in the first minute after you open MyFitnessClient.
  • If more than one pop-up wants to appear, the most important one wins: first notifications, then installing the app, and last the page tutorial.
  • If you have a window open, such as a questionnaire, the pop-up waits until you close it.
  • No pop-up appears during a tutorial.
  • No pop-up appears where you pay or decide to pay: on the subscription tab in the professional's Settings; for the client, on the professional's plans page, on the plans and payments tabs in Settings and on the page to explore courses.
  • The notifications and install-the-app pop-ups also don't appear on any Settings page.

Outside the professional's area and the client app, the prompt to install the app also appears on the sign-in page and on the invitation to join a team, without these rules. It never appears on the sign-up page or on the invitation the professional sends to the client.

The pop-ups in the queue

Each pop-up saves your answer in this browser, except the page tutorial's Don't show again, which is saved to your account.

Pop-upWhen it appearsHow to close itWhen it comes back
Enable notificationsWhen you haven't yet allowed or blocked notifications in the browser's prompt and haven't turned them off for this browser in Settings. On iPhone and iPad, only in the app installed on the Home Screen. Not now or, on a computer, the Esc key. Enable opens the browser's own prompt. After 14 days, if you still haven't allowed or blocked them in the browser's prompt.
Install the appWhen the browser lets you install MyFitnessClient and it isn't installed yet. On the professional's iPhone and iPad, it shows the steps to add it to the Home Screen. On the client's phone and tablet, it first suggests the app from the App Store or Google Play. It doesn't appear inside other apps, such as Instagram. Not now, Got it! when the pop-up shows the steps, or, on a computer, the Esc key. Don't show again turns it off.7 days after Got it! or Not now. After Don't show again, never again in this browser.
Page tutorialOn a page with a tutorial, a few seconds after you arrive. It stays on screen for 14 seconds and then closes on its own.Show me opens the tutorial. Not now, the X or the 14 seconds close the pop-up. Don't show again turns it off for that tutorial. After Not now, the X or the 14 seconds, in a later browser session, when you return to the page. After Don't show again, never again, on any device.

To turn on notifications or install the app without waiting for the pop-up, see the categories Notifications, emails and presence and App installation and internet connection.

When the Page tutorial pop-up appears

  • Only after you finish or close the first tour: the professional's guided tour or the client's welcome tour.
  • Only on pages that have a tutorial. On the professional's side, never on the Dashboard.
  • It doesn't appear during another tutorial, or for a tutorial you've already completed or closed partway through.
  • To open a tutorial that is no longer offered to you, use the tutorials list: the Tutorials button on the Dashboard, for the professional, or Settings > Tutorials, for the client. See Follow an interactive tutorial or replay the guided tour.

The two Dashboard cards

Only professional accounts see them, at the top of the Dashboard. They're outside the queue: they don't use up the session's pop-up or wait for the first minute.

Would you like MyFitnessClient tips, offers and news?

It's a one-time question for accounts that weren't asked at sign-up and haven't declined these emails yet. Once you answer, the card doesn't come back. If the answer isn't saved, the card appears again.

  • Yes, send them records that you want to receive these emails.
  • No, thanks records that you don't want them.
  • The X only records that you saw the question and doesn't count as a yes. From then on, what the card says applies. On an account that has already paid for a plan, the text is "Unless you say no, you'll start receiving them." On an account that has never paid, it's "Until you pay for a plan, we only send them if you ask."

To change your answer later, use Settings > Notifications > MyFitnessClient tips, offers and news.

The Terms and the DPA have changed

It appears when there's a new version of the Terms, which include the DPA (the data processing agreement), to professional accounts that received the notice email. It stays until the date the new version takes effect, which the card shows, or until you accept it.

  • Accept now makes the new version apply to your account right away. The card disappears and doesn't come back.
  • Read what changes opens the Terms in a new tab.
  • The X hides the card in this browser. It comes back one last time in the 7 days before the date; if you close it during those days, it doesn't come back.

If you don't accept, the new version takes effect on the date the card shows.

In the mobile app

The App Store and Google Play app doesn't have this queue or the Page tutorial pop-up. It has its own prompt to turn on notifications. The client's first steps in the app are in Get started: from your invitation to your first workout.

Questions

Why don't I see the Page tutorial pop-up?

Another pop-up may have already used this session's turn, or the first minute hasn't passed yet. It also doesn't appear before you finish the first tour, on the Dashboard, during a tutorial, or for a tutorial you completed, closed partway through or dismissed with Don't show again.

How do I see a pop-up again after closing it?

You don't need it: you can open tutorials at any time from the tutorials list, and turn on notifications and install the app from Settings. The pop-up itself only comes back after the times in the table.

Can I turn these pop-ups off for good?

Yes, one by one. Don't show again turns off the prompt to install the app in this browser, and Mark all as completed, in the tutorials list, turns off the Page tutorial pop-up on every page, because it marks the tutorials as completed. The notifications pop-up stops appearing when you allow or block notifications in the browser's prompt, or when you turn off notifications for this browser in Settings.
