When it happens
Only in the MyFitnessClient app installed from the website, when you open it from its icon and it runs in its own window, without the browser bars. With a pinch or a double tap, the page keeps its size and stays at the width of the screen. With the same account, in a browser tab, the page zooms normally.
Cause
This is intentional. The installed app turns off page zoom so it behaves like a phone app and does not zoom by mistake while you use it. In a browser tab, zoom always stays on, so anyone who needs to zoom in on the page can do so. The installed app has no option to turn on page zoom.
What changes in the installed app
Besides zoom, the installed app handles some gestures differently:
| Gesture | What happens in the installed app |
|---|---|
| Pinch or double tap on the page | The page does not zoom and stays at the width of the screen. |
| Scroll with one finger, drag an item or swipe it to the side | Works as in the browser. |
| Touch and hold the text of a menu, a button or a tab | The text is not selected. The rest of the text on the page can be selected as in the browser. |
| On iPhone and iPad, touch and hold an image, a link or a button | The system menu, with options such as saving the image or opening the link, does not open. |
| Pinch on a photo opened in full screen, in the progress photo comparison or when cropping a photo | The photo zooms: these windows have their own zoom. |
Steps
To see the page larger:
- Open MyFitnessClient in a browser tab, such as Chrome, Safari or Edge, instead of opening it from the installed app's icon.
- If the sign-in page appears, sign in to your account.
- Zoom in on the page: on a phone or tablet, with a pinch; on a computer, with Ctrl and + (on a Mac, Cmd and +).
In the browser tab, the page zooms in and out as on any website.
Text fields on iPhone and iPad
On iPhone and iPad, in the browser and also in the installed app, the text in the fields where you type is at least 16 px. This way, the page does not zoom by itself when you start typing in a field. That is why the text inside the fields may look a little larger than the rest of the page. On other devices, the fields keep their usual size.
Questions
Can I turn on zoom in the installed app?
No. The installed app has no option for page zoom. To zoom in, use MyFitnessClient in a browser tab, as in the steps.
Why can't I select the text of a button?
In the installed app, the text of menus, buttons and tabs cannot be selected, so a longer touch does not select it by mistake. The rest of the text on the page can be selected as in the browser.
What about the app from the App Store or Google Play?
That is a different app, for clients only. There, you change the text size in Settings, in Appearance, in the Text size card. See Change the text size in the app.
The installed app doesn't rotate to landscape either. Is that normal?
Yes. On a phone, the installed app only works in portrait. See the article about the portrait mode notice in the installed app.
If this did not solve it
If a full-screen photo does not zoom, or if the page does not zoom in a browser tab, write to us. If you are a professional, contact support. If you are a client, write to the MyFitnessClient team using the contact shown at the bottom of the Help Center home page. Include:
- the device, the system and the browser;
- whether you use the installed app or a browser tab;
- what you tried to zoom, for example the page or a photo, and on which screen.
