Invitation not working: expired, already used or for another email

For clientsWeb and appUpdated on

In MyFitnessClient, an invitation fails if it is expired, used up, cancelled or for another email. See what each message means and what to do.

This happens when you open an invitation link that no longer works or when your account cannot use the invitation. The message appears in two places: on the invitation page, which opens in the browser, and on Home, on the website or in the app. Find the text you see in the tables and follow the advice next to it.

Messages on the invitation page

The invitation page opens in the browser, whether or not you are signed in.

Messages on Home and in the app

After you create the account, sign in from the invitation or open the link already signed in as a client, Home links the invitation to your account. In the app, the same happens when you select Scan QR code or Paste link on the “You don't have a professional yet” card on Home. If that does not work, or if the response to the invitation fails, one of the messages in this table appears.

Ask for a new invitation

An invitation that expired, reached its limit or is no longer available does not work again. To get a new invitation:

  1. If the message appeared on the invitation page, select Notify the professional. The button changes to “Professional notified”.
  2. If the message appeared on Home or in the app, where that button does not exist, ask the professional for the new invitation, for example by message.
  3. When the new invitation arrives, open the link with the client account it is meant for: if it came by email, the account with that address. In the app, on the “You don't have a professional yet” card on Home, select Scan QR code or Paste link.

The invitation appears on Home, where you accept or decline it. See Accept or decline your professional's invitation. If you do not have an account yet, see Open your professional's invitation and create your account.

What the Notify the professional button does

  • It only appears on the invitation page, when the invitation expired, reached its limit or is no longer available.
  • The professional receives the “Invite no longer valid” notification, which asks them to send a new invitation. With a link or a QR code, the notification may not say who you are: also let them know by message that it was you.
  • Each invitation generates at most one notification every 6 hours. If someone notified them less than 6 hours ago, the button still changes to “Professional notified”, but the professional does not receive another notification.
  • If the link is incomplete or the professional’s account no longer exists, the notification reaches no one.

Invitation time limits and usage limits

  • The time limit for opening the invitation is the one the professional chose: 5, 10 or 30 minutes or 1 hour for a QR code; 1 hour or 1, 3 or 7 days for a link; 1, 3, 7 or 14 days for an email invitation. They can also create an invitation with no time limit.
  • The time limit runs until you open the invitation with your client account. An invitation that already appears on your Home stays there after the time limit, until you accept or decline it, unless the professional cancels it.
  • For a link or a QR code, the professional also chooses how many times the invitation can be used: once, the number of times they set (up to 10,000) or with no limit. An email invitation works only once.
  • Each account has one professional and one waiting request at a time. Coaching that has already ended does not block a new invitation.
  • Your account’s email must be verified for you to open and respond to an invitation.
  • Attempts per minute: 20 openings of the invitation page per IP address, 5 invitation openings per account, on Home or in the app, and 15 responses per account on Home.

If this did not solve it

Ask the professional for a new invitation: it is the quickest way. If the new invitation also fails, write to the MyFitnessClient team through the contact shown in the Help Center and send the exact message, where you saw it (invitation page, Home or app), your account’s email and the approximate time.
