How the directory works

Who provides the service

Each profile is created and maintained by the professional themselves, who acts in their own name, and not on behalf of MyFitnessClient, and who, by publishing the profile, declares that they act as a professional and that the profile information is true. The coaching you agree on is an agreement between you and that professional. MyFitnessClient provides the platform: it is not a party to that agreement and does not provide training, nutrition or healthcare.

How we rank profiles

In the “Relevance” order, which is the default, profiles appear according to the following criteria, in order of importance:

  • Accepting new clients
  • Having a profile or cover photo
  • Within each group, a random daily rotation, the same throughout a given day

In the client app, only the professionals who accept new clients appear, plus those to whom you have already sent a request, who appear first. You can also choose another order and filter the results. No payment, nor any registration or title number, influences the position of a profile. At the end of each profile, “Other professionals” shows profiles from the same district first, in the same Relevance order, then the rest.

Registration and title numbers

Professionals may provide on their profile:

  • The registration (cédula) number with the Portuguese Order of Nutritionists (Ordem dos Nutricionistas). Without it, no one is presented as a “Nutritionist” or “Dietitian”, and the profession follows the letter in the registration number (N or D)
  • The type and number of the professional title issued by IPDJ (the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth), for physical exercise technician (técnico de exercício físico) or technical director (diretor técnico), which are optional
  • Each number can only be on one profile (for IPDJ, the type and the number are considered together)

These numbers are provided by the professional themselves and we do not confirm them. On the profile, each number has the “Check on the official register” button, which copies the number and opens the search of the Order or of IPDJ. Paste the number into the search and check whether the name is the one on the profile, whether the profession or the type of title matches what the profile states and whether the status is active.

If you are going to train at a gym, fitness academy or health club, the person instructing you must hold the professional title of physical exercise technician or technical director. A number does not confirm the professional's competence, the quality of the service or their specialities, and a coaching title for a particular sport does not, by itself, qualify someone to work as a physical exercise technician (técnico de exercício físico). The absence of a number does not mean an absence of qualification: there are valid qualifications that may not appear in these registers, such as titles issued by the Autonomous Regions, title applications accepted because there was no reply within the legal deadline, or the qualification of professionals working under the free provision of services. Not every activity or place requires this title. In case of doubt, the official register prevails. If the number does not match the register, report the profile.

Profile information

The information in each profile is published by the professional themselves, who is responsible for its accuracy. The directory does not have client ratings or reviews.

Seen something wrong?

A fake profile, a number that does not match the register, a title used without the qualification or misleading information? Use “Report profile” on the profile page: choose the reason, explain what is wrong and declare, in good faith, that the information is accurate and complete. Your name and email are optional; if you leave your email, you immediately receive an acknowledgement of receipt with the case number and, later, the decision, which is taken by a person. We do not tell the professional who made the report, unless it is strictly necessary. You can also write to [email protected] with the subject “Report”, stating the address of the profile and the reason. The full procedure is in section 14 of the Terms of Service.
